What is Vignette?
Vignette is a graphic exhibit and display system designed to simplify the process of organizing and exhibiting artwork. While its primary focus is on visual elements, it also handles associated data effectively.
Vignette is in development and will be available for subscription in the near future. As a subscription model, Vignette allows users access to new features when they become available.
Key Features:
- Easy Image Placement: Drag and drop images into a gallery, position them, and use the "align" feature for optimal arrangement.
- Inventory Management: Import, sort, and organize images and art objects.
- Documentation: Keep track of loans, condition reports, and other relevant documents, aggregating subsets of information.
- Exhibit Planning: Plan and design exhibits, including wall space, lighting, and object placement.
- Collaboration: Share galleries and exhibits with colleagues and collaborators.
What Vignette is Not:
- Not a website or storefront creator
- Not a drawing or drafting program
- Vignette is schematic, not a virtual, immersive, exhibition environment
Primary Objectives:
- Inventory wall space
- Catalog locations of objects and imagery
- Simplify exhibit planning and management
Flexibility:
Vignette can work with subsets of collections, inventories, and data, eliminating the need for a complete system overhaul.
Subscription Tiers:
- Artist: Exhibition Proposals, group exhibits.
- Individual/Small Gallery: 1-3 rooms or galleries
- Mid-size Gallery/Small Museum: 5-10 rooms or galleries
- Large Museum/Institution: Multiple galleries and extensive collections
- Enterprise/Custom: For very large institutions with specific needs
Tiers are monitored with an algorithm and should alert users to parameters that would cause a change in subscription rates.
